Howdy, All;
Just a quick inro: although I'm a new ML owner, I've had the good fortune to have some generous friends and mentors, so have gotten to shoot a bit.
Although budget has always been an issue - always more month than money - I recently stumbled on a deal I couldn't pass, and traded for a .50 Lyman GPR with both flint and percussion locks, round and conical moulds, etc, so I finally have achieved a forty-year dream: I finally own a front-stuffer.
It even shoots pretty decent... better than I know how to feed and groom it. So I've got some learnin' to do.
It took a few days of experimenting with powders, patches and loads, but have found a couple pretty nice load combos: one load produced three, 3-hole clover-leaves, and a 10-round single hole, at 100yds, off the bench, in rarely good weather (no wind, for once), and on a rarely good day for me.
I've shot rifles since I was big enough to keep both ends off the ground; never had so much fun in my life!
Now, The Bride's decided she wants a muzzleloader, too... and she already knows what she wants. So, I've got a late Lancaster to build one o' these years... :hmm:
I've been lurking here for awhile; gotta admit, I'm pretty impressed with the level of information, and the courteous behavior around here.
Anyways: hello, all!
