This is the first installment of the Highway Man build.
It is a .45 cal. belt pistol project that is being built at the same time as Cherry Build. Since I am always waiting on components (Zonie is always warnin' us!) so I am building 2 at the same time.
This is the barrel with my custom sights. The rear sight is machined to be flush with the flats. The drum is custom made to exactly fit the lock. It is rounded over like an original example, and will not use a clean out screw.
The tang is flared and has a chevron finial. I also grooved the rear of the barrel for looks. And no, I did not hand file the grooves, but used a 1/8" ball endmill.
And by the way, that block of gorgeous wood that the barrel is sitting on is a chunk from Cherry Build, and will be used for the plug on Cherry's powderhorn. Every build comes with a matching horn!
