Does anyone know of a holster for a Traditions Trapper? Got my pistol a couple of weeks ago and it shoots great with 20gr FFF .490 ball .015 patch.

These are usually simple holster for this type of gun. I would check Dixie gun works. I believe I have seen them there.

Thanks! just need somthing simple.
first post, just joined in sept. great forum, tons of info, read it everyday!

Some of my pistols do have belt hooks. There is a socket style "holster" that also works good. I know The Leatherman makes them in both right and left hand versions for around $20. Emery

Here's one I made for my trapper, it's set up for "crossdraw". The thong fits tight over the hammer for secure and saftey in a crowd.

How do you carry that, at half cock with a cap on?

:haha: No Sir!, But thanks for checking,,

Always unloaded at a vous' whilst workin the public in a skit or sumpthin, but one time my boy was packin it on his belt cross draw, another vous' friend came up to visit, and quickly snached it from the holster as a historicaly correct lesson!! Don't let it hang loose. :nono:

That one lesson was enough, thus the addition of the thong,,I have that thing in a small enough hole to make it tough to pull out.

That is a great lookin holster you made! Just the kind of thing I was looking for. I guess I should get some leather and give it a try. Never made a holster before.

Holsters aren't that hard to design. Start with a large piece of heavy paper and fold it over the gun, drawing a line and presssing hard so the other side of the piece has a depressed line to follow, leave and extra 3/8 inch for sewing it together. perhaps a half inch, if you intend to lace it together with thong strips. Remember to leave a piece, a few inches wide, to fold over for a belt loop at the top. I have made three or four from scratch. It does take leather that is heavier than black smith sides. You probably want something about 8oz. Oak tanned shoulder cuts are ok and cheaper but not as blemish free as a whole side. Chrome tanned is a bit stiffer to work with.

Those are nice, good photo of the back with the belt loop, that's the tricky part.

Mine is just really a knock-off of the Leatherman that Dixie sell's
