Since I don't have a lathe, I've been searching for a substitute cone for my horn. Well I finally got around last night to boiling my horn and using my substitute cone and it seems to have done a real nice job. Its a pompeiian red wine vinegar bottle. It's the shape that I needed and it was available. First I recommend 2 things, remove the label first, second empty the bottle. Best of all I was able to use it without the wife knowing it. If she found out I would be a scalped husband.

An old baseball bat works really well. Just cut off the parts you don't need.

If you belong to the NMLRA and get muzzle blasts, there was an article in it about 2 1/2 years ago on building a cheap, homemade lathe for just a couple of dollars. You can use plain old chisels and turn out plugs, etc. If you need the exact date let me know and I can look it up.

Another idea is to fill a coffee cup with concrete... Works for me and it's cheap! :winking:
