Honest Opinion on Sale Value?

Hi

I've had a Colt Signature Series 1861 sitting around for a while, and I'm considering selling it. I don't know what it's worth in its current condition, though. It's not perfect, with some surface discoloration near the hammer. The barrel is good with no pitting and sharp rifling. The wood is a 9.5. I borrowed the nipple for another rifle and can't seem to put my hands on the replacement I ordered.... :/

*PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE* just skip it with the clever quips like, "It's worth whatever someone will pay for it." So tiresome (and not nearly as witty as people think when they reply with useless garbage like that), lol.

If it helps you out at all, a shop near me has a mint (likely unfired I believe) one for $950, and it has been there for 4-months.

Most of them I see are $800-1,000 except for sellers who are traditionally higher than the market.

I believe these were made by ArmiSport back in the 90's. I remember seeing them as a kid in the Gander Mountain catalogs.

ArmiSport continued to make these "Colt Special Rifle Muskets" without the Colt stamps afterwards and they sold up until recently on Dixie for about $900 before prices went crazy

With the cosmetic flaws it's probably still a $900 rifle if someone is really looking for one to go with a Signature Series revolver. $700 it would sell quick. $800 you probably would find a buyer eventually. As a shooter they hold no real significance over any other ArmiSport .58 rifle. A brand new ArmiSport 1861 is $1000 and besides being something a little different, this Colt branded rifle isn't much different than any other ArmiSport 1861 you can find currently.

Pedersoli may have made some of these, or Euroarms, but I honestly don't know . It would affect value depending on the maker.

Such as how some Colt 2nd Gen and Signature Series revolvers are Armi San Marco and some are Uberti.

There's a weird history behind the original Colt Special Rifle-Musket but few buyers of these repros probably care about it

Something like how Colt set out to make Enfield type rifles for foreign sales, then the US Govt told Colt to make them more like an 1863 Springfield, so it basically became a Spring-Enfield

I do appreciate the thoughtful, informative responses. In some of my other hobbies (RC jets, in particular), people just can't seem to help themselves with the non-helpful, pseudo-comic replies. Gets old fast! Thanks for the info I'm actually asking for!

The discoloration is a slight ding to the value, but you’d probably snap $800 from the right buyer.

Would seem NOS and unfired Colt 1861s are bumping $900 recently. Yours is neither unfired or NOS, so I would agree with others that you have an $800 gun at most as long as you can be patient and wait for ‘that’ buyer or the market changes.
