I cut up another white oak log from the falling down house I am salvaging from. This one is older than the last one. The outer edge was difficult to count the rings since it is the soft wood and badly deteriorated but there is over 130 years of growth in this honey pot. That means the center of this tree is bare minimum 1690s and given the more than inch of old growth I cut to get to good wood this is much more likely prior to the 1650s. In other words when Europeans first came into this area in the 1750s this tree was already 100 years old. The logs are the first floor subfloor. The top I made from a rather poor condition locust piece from the same house. In the window frames the top and side pieces are made of walnut and the window sill is made of locust since it is a harder wood. They didn't survive well these last two years but it sure is pretty good with good history. $100 for the decorative honey pot and lid plus shipping. Christmas is right around the corner
