I am just starting to make a horn cup and I would like to seal the bottom with something besides beeswax. I was at Fort Fredrick Market Fair and I was talking to a trader who sold leather water canteens about how to reseal my leather canteen and he mentioned the word polymer. He was to e-mail me information about how to do it and where to get it but never did. I would like to use one product for both items can anyone help me?

I would suggest clear epoxy for the cup, something flexable for the leather. I seal my cups with epoxy. It does not wash out and is suitable for hot drinks. Once cured, epoxy is pretty much just another plastic. Not PC, but who looks in peoples cups to see? I use Devcon 2 TON, long set.

I have used a food grade epoxy on canteens before. It is called envirotex. You can buy it at Menard's.

The Mad MIck!!

There are also some epoxy finishes for table and bar tops that work well. Mix some up, pour it into the bottomm of the cup and swirl around, then pour out the excess. You can seal several different items with one batch before it seets up, just by draining from one cup to the next.
