Here's a new item that I turned from horn and wood:

I photographed this powder flask at an Antique Show several years ago. I'm not expert at dating horns but I believe that it was a style used in the 17th and early 18th centuries.

I made this reproduction of the flask. It's not an exact copy since the horn I used had a different taper. It was quite thick and I heated it several times in order to get it straight. It did allow me to turn heavier bands than the original. I'd like to try it again, starting with a straighter horn that would allow me to form the slight convex shape of the original. Btw, this piece was made from the same horn I used for the box I posted yesterday.

Thanks so much for the nice compliments. I'm still learning and hope to have more time to work on horns this winter, with the cold weather and short days.
 
Wax can be used when attaching the plug in order to seal the horn. In my case, wax could be added to both ends in order to seal the assembly.

The wood to horn fits are pretty good and, if I decide to use the horn I'll leave it as is.
