Where can one find a quality horn in the rough. I would like to try my hand at making a horn from the F&I period. I would like to find a horn from one of those shaggy brown cows. (Obviously I don't knwo what they are called). Their horns are larger an less twisted than most. Thanks

Wolf,

Take a drive up to Dixon's Muzzleloading Shop. They have a selection of horns you can look through before buying. If you buy from a website you might not get the shape you are hoping for.

Thanks to all for the info. Helped a lot. I will make the journey to Dixon's soon. I have wanted to check out his shop for some time. Yep I think they are called Scotts Hoghlander cattle. Thanks again.

Wolf,
You might want to try a local farmer that
dehorns his cattle , or your local
stockyeard most of the time there free
that way, then just boil the centers
out.
