I whipped up a horn tip for my jaeger last night. I put a brass tip in the end for my cleaning/loading jag.

This view shows the threaded brass tip and the results of Plum Brown as a finish for curly maple. I was surprised.

It's amazing what you can do with a dremel tool and some epoxy :) I had thought about making a horn muzzle cap but I think I'll quit while I'm ahead. I don't think the wooden end looks too bad and it's strengthened with bedding epoxy in the barrel channel.

It's a .61 Colerain Jaeger barrel. I coned the muzzle which may give it a larger look. I hope to go shooting tomorrow if the rain holds off.

Very clever idea. I've been wondering what to do with some antler bits I have in the shop, and a cracked end on my current rod. Nice work, hope you don't mind if I 'borrow' your idea.

BTW- the plum brown really looks good and highlights the wood without covering up the patterns.
