I've fixed this problem before by gluing a piece of thin leather inside the ramrod channel. You may need to skive the front of the leather so the RR slides in easier, and you may have to add some leather to the sides of the channel also.
Be aware that since 2006 when this thread was started, and today, T/C no longer has parts for the sidelock guns.Although I didn't ask the question, I have the same problem, "thank you for the advice."
Wow talk of old thread resurection!
Didn't realize until I noticed a post from roundball!!
I used a pair of pliers and bent the leaf spring just a little and it worked great. "Thank you Roundball!"Down near the end of the under-rib, right in front of the nose cap, there should be a little tiny leaf spring that keeps tension in the ramrod to prevent that.
Its either missing, broken, or has been flattened some and simply needs to be gently bent outward a little to put pressure on the ramrod again.
