How do you carry lubed patches?

Curious of the various ways guys carry pre-lubed patches. I've been using a Sucrets tin, but I'm interested in something a little more authentic.

Does your rifle have a patch box?

I carry my prelubed "dry" patches in a small pocket in my shooting bag. You can look at TOW and find the Ted Cash or simular tins to carry patches in.

35mm film can is good for the lubed wads too!

And the custom-made pistol stands hold two film cans--one for each kind!

I use a brass Ted Cash Tinder Box, I picked up off a trade blanket at a Rendevous quite a few years ago.

To be truthful I carry mine in a empty prescription bottle.

I Don't use prelubed patches. It's just another container I have to look for in my shooting bag.
I just tie a strip of pillow ticking on my bag. When I need a patch I lube it with good'ol spit, start the ball then cut er off at the muzzle, and ram her home. I think thats some what authentic.

After I'm done shooting a trail walk, I'm ready for some sort of adult beverage to replenish my spit. :rotf:

I've got .50 cal patches in an empty cap tin.

For wads I picked up a couple tins of daisy air rifle pellets. $1.90 or so at walmart, and figure I can melt the lead to cast some balls. The daisy tins just have stickers on them which peel off fairly well to make for a plain screw top tin

For the tradegun which doesn't have a patchbox I use a round brass container with a friction fit lid. Think it was originally suppossed to be a snuff box.

Prelubed, precut in a wooden pill box that I found years ago...

Lubed, to cut at muzzle or loading block, I carry rolled up in the patch box...

Right now I'm going to use the patch box in the rifle butt. Any extra will go in a 35mm film can or a pill bottle.Until I find something cooler that seals nice.

:hmm: Can't say when I started using 35mm film canisters:idunno:, but it was long before they were plastic. The bobby pin holds tension on the roll of fabric inside the canister.

I use an Altoid's "Smalls" tin. Room for a stack of patches and an extra gob of moose snot. I hammered the lettering on the top as smooth as I could, which slightly domed the lid, wire wheeled the paint off, and set fire to it for a few minutes. Looks pretty decent. Don't know if the hinge is PC. :idunno:
