How do you carry your muzzleloader pistol?

Did you watch the video? The holster is hand stitched and I'm not sure what the wood is, I didn’t make the flintlock.

The pistol was made for me by Eddie Brown when I retired from HORN IN THE WEST (oldest revolutionary war outdoor dramas) as director (20 yrs) found the holster years ago on line. Handmade for the pistol. Blessed

the JAPANESE FLINTER fit's in it like a glove! I rely like the addition of brass tacks on it. I will put some of them on my JAPANESE, flinter. how much does one of the holsters cost? it they are for sale at all?

the question that I have is - were they ever carried in holsters? belt hooks yes. never heard of then being mentioned?

You're lucky that you can carry them. Over here, they have to be fully covered unless you are shooting them. Unless you have an original which you only want to display, but then you can't shoot it. You could buy two identical original pistols, one to hang on the wall, the other to shoot, however, the one that you shoot would have to be kept in again safe.

Mine has a deep belt holder. Works well.

Wow fellows ..really inventive methods and great craftsmanship ..I applaud you!
I'm a C&B revolver guy but I would think the same issues of safe carry ..protection of weapon ..protection of ignition and powder and fast to deploy would be the parameters for EXTENDED in the field deployment
SO it is hard for my feeble mind to envision anything less than a closed end holster with flap and whose material has been mink oiled/greased to high heaven to protect ..whether on horse or on foot
Then again I suppose one could envision a "leisure" rig for close to the old log cabin ..but surely if one set out for a extended foray the old timers had to have had a way to make safe and reliable their side arm

I dont know where the flintlock is from, probably India. I stripped the varnish off and added the brass tacks because I like the look, did similar to my smoothbore long gun.
anyway I only made the holster for fun, I’ve never actually seen one in use. It was always my impression that there was no such thing. I don’t make them for sale.

Well Folks, here is what I’ve come up with, I’ve sort of copied @simonbeans holster he made for his flinter. The sheath for the knife was used to practice stitching and staining.
