Hi all: I dug out my old CVA Napoleon 3 Cannon, it has the 11.5" wheels .69 balls. I haven't used it since the 70's and was wondering how much 1F to put down the barrel?
I still have the round balls, is a piece of bread good for wadding?
Any other tips before I light it up again.
Does anyone know who made these for Ct. Valley Arms?
Thanks in advance.

Seems like we used 35 to 50 grains of powder. Gun would take more but the recoil often caused the wooden trails to snap when the gun jumped back. ONly real problem we ever encountered. Good luck.

My South Bend Centennial uses 110 grns. for blank loads and 55grns. for live rounds. Anyway thats what the paperwork that came with it says to use.
Of course my cannon is all cast, there is no wood on it at all, and mine at the reccommended load does not have any noticable kick back. The bugger wieghs nearly 50 pounds whcih could be why.

The original wheels did break up from recoil and climate conditions.
I just got a set of 12" wood wagon wheels that I will use on the carriage. I will need some sort of trim ring to put around the wheels, so am thinking of strip of copper soldered together and screwed to the wheel rim.
Will post photos when done.
