How much pressure did a Colt Walker revolver generate?

Does anyone know how many PSI was generated in the chamber of the Walker revolver?
Assume this is for your barrel building project? No Walker data, but in the old Lyman Black Powder Handbook there is pressure data (LUP) taken from a ‘special’ pressure 1860 revolver. They were in the range of 7400 LUP with 37 grains of 4F G-O under a round ball and 8800 LUP with 28 grains of 3F G-O. Remember that in a revolver there is an almost immediate venting of pressure as the bullet leaves the cylinder and enters the barrel. The gap between the cylinder and barrel is releasing gas/pressure so the pressure curve is different that what a one piece barrel would give. And LUPs are LUPs, with no equation to get to PSIs.

Have you thought about setting this ‘problem’ up in a FEA simulation? Then test the results in your lab with your strain gauges, or pay someone to do the tests. Not that complicated of a simulation problem to set up. Plus a FEA is where any modern barrel manufacture would start before cutting any steel on a new design, rather than guessing and randomly trying stuff based on what others have done.
