Greetings to all from the land of dirt and black gold, West Texas. I've been involved with the black powder community occasionally over the past 13 years thanks to being a civil war reenactor. I've mostly only ever worked with military firearms and pistols but have recently started getting in to the civilian market as well. I've quickly realized that knowledge of military muskets and rifles does not directly transfer over to other long arms, and with that being said, have decided to fall back on one of the best sources in the community, the forums. Looking forward to any knowledge that I may be able to offer to others as well as gain.

Another Howdy and Welcome from Texas, this time from The Woodlands, between Conroe and Houston.
There are lots of good folks here that know pretty much everything about black powder that could ever be known. Just ask.
Hang around long enough, and you'll get to know the different personalities. Some of them are a hoot!

Howdy! If you are interested in doing competition shooting with Civil War-era firearms, check out the North-South Skirmish Association. You are in the Deep South Region. It would be a bit of a haul to our usual skirmish location at Brierfield Ironworks State Park in Alabama, but we have several folks from Texas who shoot on teams here.

Here is the Deep South Region web site:
http://www.deepsouthnssa.com/
All teams in the region are looking for new shooters!

We typically have skirmishes in February, March, April, June, August, and the last one of the year is in Eva, TN in November.
