Hello, in the Log Cabin Catalog I have seen a special, perhaps illuminating, hunting sight for Investarm Hawken and other Italian replikas. Has anybody expirience with this sights. They seem to me very useful, specially when hunting in the morning or evening.

I think you are referrin' to those fiber optic sights. The light is gathered by the sides of a long plastic tube and concentrated in the ends. They are certainly quite visible, and for huntin' in dim light would be quite helpful. Around here though, the purists frown on anything except the very hardest to see sights. I keep one rifle restricted to plain open sights so I can compete in the shootin' matches we have from time to time. I prefer those made by Marble's, and I especially like the old British Ezpress sights with the wide shallow V on the rear and a 1/8" bead front. :v

No not so. Front sight looks similar to Investarm or dixie Hawken front sight and has a white point. Rear sihgt is adjustable and has a white point., too.

These sights are made for the Lyman/InvestArms guns. I think that they would be pretty helpful for low light situations. I have used a bit of WhtieOut/Liquid Paper which are brand names for correction fluid to brighten my front sights of some guns.

Silver or polished brass edged sights are not uncommon for the same reason.

I have also filed a slight bevel across the top edge of my more primitive ML front sights to reflect a bit of light to make this area more visible in a period correct manner.

I thought the same and ordered one combo by Dixie's yesterday and 20 .54 Hornady Great Plains Bullets for hunting. Becuase in GE you can't get any hunting bullets, only normal Minie or Maxiballs.
