I am forgetfing my manners here.. This is my 3 or 4th post and I have yet to introduce myself.

Wes Smith is the name and I am from Charlotte, NC.
Ever since my dad built a T/C Hawken from a kit I have always been charmed by muzzle-loaders. There is just something about them, the smoke, the smell, the history ...it's all good!

Building a rifle has always been on my "To Do" list and I just can't wait any longer.

Charlotte had a gun-collectors show a few weeks back and there I splurged on 4 books. Thoughts of the Kentucky Rifle in the Golden Age, Colonial Rifles of America vols 1&2 and the "Greenville Gunsmith"

With this said you can see that I am in the research and discovery phase of my building process. Hope you guys are game 'cause I may have pleny of questions.

Welcome aboard! I am just north of you a bit in Salisbury. Good to see another "local" around here!

Man, you're makin' me wish I had gone to the show... I need all of them books you bought! Hope you got a good deal!

The Builder's Bench is gonna be right up your alley, as it is mine. I just finished my first gun build, a pistol kit, and everyone was so helpful and encouraging it really kept me going, and I have what I feel is a beautiful gun as a result.

You're in the right place. :redthumb:
