It is a .62 Cal. Possibly a kit? The only markings Is Lott on the lock. There is nothing on the barrel. Butt plate is iron, side plate is either iron or German silver.

The lock is a Pedersoli reproduction, which Navy Arms marketed as their Lott Trade Gun Lock. The side plate is a Northwest tradegun type, and the triggerguard is smaller than usually seen on trade guns. Looks like someone made up a nice trade gun inspired smoothbore.

I think the trigerguard looks french.
tg,Brooks,Okwaho,Henry may know better
:hatsoff:

A picture of the full gun woould help, it's awfull hard to tell what a gun is when you can only see the lock and sideplate.

Your pictures are fine.
It's a conglomeration of parts. English trade gun lock and sideplate, chopped up fowler trigger guard, and a kentucky rifle buttplate. Guns made out of old parts were common back in the day.

I cannot see the tg to tell what country it is from, the gun is a nice example of a parts gun which as Mike noted would be common....I am afraid you have a PC gun old charlie...that probably hurts but it is a fact.

TG what hurts is the dam thing shoots low. At 25 yds. It had the holes touching ,but way low.
I took my dremel and ground 2/3 of the front sight off and it still shooting 9 inches low!
I guess my turkey hunting will be with my 12 gauge double barrel cap gun.

Old Charlie: Is the muzzle square to the bore: You might be able to raise that POI by simply filing the bottom of the muzzle so that it releases the PRB sooner than the top. Have you also tried increasing the powder charge, and/or using tighter wads over the powder to get a better seal? Both will tend to raise the POI.

I found, for instance, that using a proper diameter wad in my " 20 ga. fowler" that required using 19 ga. wads because the bore is oversized, to immediately raise the POI on my round ball loads. I was having the same problem you had with the balls shooting close, but very low.

I tried using a fiber wad over the powder with the patched ball and it made my smoothie shoot better.....Mark

You may have to bend the barrel, I do not know how the gun fits but you may not want to be looking down the barrel but over the top with head up a bit? sometimes head position can make a big difference where the shot hits, this may not apply here but is something to consider, if you need to bend the barrel there is a jig described somewhere I think in the archives to do this with.
