I would like to thank all those who offered advice and encouragement on my ramrod hole repair.
I thought I would post the results.

Since this stock was carved from a blank I cut wood from the same area of the hole and created a six inch dowel which then was glued in placed and finished.
I chose not to go with the wood inlay technique as i am a newbie at this and thought it a little advanced for me. I also decided to go with a darker rosewood stain which helped it blend in.
Again, thanks for your comments. :hatsoff:
Without them I may have made matters worse or scrapped this project altogther.

Lesson learned.

Good job!! If one didn't know about the oops, they would never be able to tell. Looks like a natural mark in the wood to me!

Now you get the fun of polishing that trigger guard!

Great job! Almost anything can be fixed. Our forefathers did it all the time.

I gotta say that I am impressed. If you would have shown me the pic and asked to find the problem, I would not have looked twice. It really does look like natural wood figure. :hatsoff:
