that was sent to me years ago by DGW. It was supposed to be for my 1858 Rem at the time. I believe it may be for a Spiller and Burr? It is the cylinder latch. Way too thick for the rem. Rather than throw it out i kept it. If someone can indentify and needs it let me know and I will mail it out .

That is a "bolt" for a Remington revolver. A "cylinder latch" is a Ruger part. Pietta changed the notch width in the late '90's so . . .

I think if you first anneal it and polish it up with some stones, then color case harden the piece, you will be surprised how well it will withstand the rigors of surviving in your junk drawer for another couple of years.
just wanted to pass it to someone whom could use it...thats all......I dont toss stuff if I can pass it on....

Hmm.. forgive my ignorance (I'm BRAND new to this forum)... but I looked up how to send a PM on here and for some reason it doesn't seem like I have the option to send one to you. Maybe because I'm new?
Fairly certain there is a post threshold you have to reach before PMs become available. It's low, maybe 10 or so. Same rule applies to the classified sections.

Hmmmmm
Not a weird turn, it's a bolt for a Remington ( maybe a S&B). Anyway, I was just identifying the part to be discussed. The "bolt" is what locks the cylinder in battery. The term "cyl latch" is Ruger parlance for the same thing. As far as "thickness" goes, Pietta (which this looks like a Pietta bolt) changed the thickness of their bolts sometime in the '90's.
