Saw an original Colt 1860 New Army in the pawn shop today offered for $2500. Was in "Very Good" condition. Yet .... I think I'll stick with my Italian-made modern reproductions. Can't see paying that kind of money unless I'm a serious vintage black powder firearm collector. Which I'm not. Just a black powder firearm enthusiast and shooter.

Just to feel that thing in your hands would have been darn cool. If its actually in good condition that seems like not really a lot of money if it's a good shooter.

I don’t shoot my original revolvers - I only have two originals anyway. But I shoot my reproductions and really enjoy them all. I do have a small number of original rifles that I shoot and there is something special about doing that. Shooting the reproductions is fun but not quit comparable. I shoot an 1861 Springfield, a Burnside carbine, and now a Maynard carbine acquired in September. I also have a Spencer infantry rifle I’m fixin’ to shoot soon. (Apologies to moderators.) Great fun!
