Of course, you don't want to lose it... Who cares about who's holding it? :shocked2:

My brother inlaw worked out of Prudoe Bay in Alaska on a siesmic ship.He said the Inuit used a 4 gauge ML to kill whales. If they were in 50 miles of them when they killed a whale they had to tow the whale in for them.He brought back some video of them winching in the whale. They had a huge winch on an island where they butchered the whale.

Anyone recognize the action? Almost looks like a Mowrey. :hmm:

A frind of mine has one of these in his collection
It looks surpisingly like a mix if Mowrey and Hawkin
Apparently it fired a bomb lance into a whale that had been harpooned, which when fired would explode in the whale
If anybody is interested I will get some pictures of it as well as a Harpoon gun that served on the Von Erik, he also has a very impressive punt gun of about 1.5 inches with a 9 foot barrel
All in shooting condition.
These guns were used real men....mem were men and sheep were nervous
Best Regards
Old Ford

I (for one) would like to see them...

9 FT BARREL? okay is the twist measured inside the barrel or how many times the shooter spins round? seriously, would love to see the pics..but now that we're huntin whales, shouldn't this be in the "muzzleloading hunting' section :shake: :yakyak: RC

Yup. I hear a lot of talk about "big" guns from folks that believe a .54 is big.

Now that gun is the real thing.
:)
I have meade a few 4 bore rifles in the past, and I have one in the works now. I won't sight them in anymore. I will fire them only enought to get them on paper at 50 yards, but after that, I leave the "fun" up to the customer.
I think I have pics of the last 4 bore I made. It was done in Purdey style. I will have to look and see. If I can find some, I will post them here so folks can see.

Well guys.
I struck out.
I don't have any pics of it. I don't know what I did with them.
:(
Sorry

it shouldn't matter at 100 yards if you miss the wind from whatever you shot should knock over the target :rotf:
