Identify Belgium Musket

I have a Belgium made with Liege proof marks musket. Don’t know if it was a mix master of parts or bubba made. Some military similarities made into a civilian model? There is one on GB listed as a Lorenz 1854 model. I don’t think it’s correct. Really would like to find out what is.

African trade gun. These were made from obsolete musket parts at first. Then we’re produced with new made parts as the old parts ran out. They were cheap, and most governments there would only let them own a muzzleloader. Should be a smooth bore. A lot of them were imported here for decoration

How is the lock plate held in place with screw heads on both sides?

Yes it’s a smooth bore about 68 caliber.

If you remove the lock and look inside, it will either have a coil spring mainspring, or if you are lucky, a v type mainspring. It looks in good shape. If it is good enough shape to shoot, they make good “beater “ guns.

That "Made in Belgium" stamp seems to be indicative of a modern rifle.

As others have said, new made gun from mix of old and new parts that was generally made for the African market, Some did make it to the US and Europe for decorative pieces. Here is an ad from 1947 though I've seen them as early as 1911 and late as 1962.

The rear lock screw is threaded into the brass side plate. The front lock plate screw is a wood screw. The brass side plate front screw is also a wood screw.

So many screws on the patch box, un-inletted side plate, it does look like a "mix-master". Thanks for placing that term, I'd never heard it before!
