FORT DE CHARTRES GUN CLUB MEETING AND SHOOT
Sunday 6-12-2022. Meeting starts at 1 pm shoot immediately after. Guests are always welcome . You must be in historic clothes to shoot. Flintlock only.

@Smokey Plainsman,

Are you looking for a black powder club that shoots traditional muzzle loading rifles and is not concerned about being historically correct, or period correct other than shooting traditional firearms?

Are you looking for a club that is focused on the historical or period aspects of traditional muzzle loading? The Fort de Chartres Gun Club would be excellent or "Les Coureurs des Bois de Fort de Chartres" as suggested by @French Colonial. So too, would be the club from Kaskaskia.

Across the river in Old Mines, Missouri is a club that puts on the Old Mines Rendezvous.

Casting a wider net will put you into the St. Louis Region and the Gemmer Muzzle Loading Gun Club.

Thanks, sir. Mostly just wanting a place to hang out with like minded traditional black powder guys and learn/make friends. Not necessarily looking to become a full-blown reenactor, mostly just wanting to shoot and have a fun time.

I hate to keep hyping it but you will be hard pressed to find a better and laid back bunch of guys than at the Fort, you may not be eligible to win their shooting contest, but if you show up in Levi's or bib overalls and explain your a new guy you will be most welcome.

@Smokey Plainsman, you are looking for a traditional club such as the Gemmer Muzzle Loading Gun Club. The big drawback is that our range in Pacific, MO is about an hour and a half to two hours from Randolph County, IL. We are not a reenactors' club. We are a traditional muzzle loading gun club. The closest we come to historically correct attire is bib overalls and not everyone will wear other than comfortable clothing. Rifles seen at our matches range from basic production rifles from T/C, Traditions, CVA, Pedersoli et al to custom built rifles. The competition at our matches is friendly. Often rifles, shotguns and fowling pieces come up for sales. Members will pool resources to make group purchases of powder and caps. We have our own range. Members will be mentors to new shooters who want to improve accuracy on target and we have builders in our club who mentor others in the building of their own kit builds.

The July rifle match will be the Buffalo match. The target is the NMLRA buffalo target to be shot at 100 yards off cross sticks. There is also a pistol match and smoothbore match.

I would be pleased to invite you to our July Match to have you see the range, meet members and just have great discussions on muzzle loading rifles.

Sir, according to Google it’s 1 hr 28 minutes, not bad at all. I’d love to attend! I find myself without a rifle at present but plan on obtaining one soon. I do have a caplock bear pistol that might be fun to shoot in the match.

Are most events one day or multi day? Do most take place on weekends? Thanks sir!
