Hey guys,

I just spent the better part of last weekend inletting my ramrod entry thimble. Inletting the attachment tab and the tube itself were no problem. Inletting the tang is taking forever. I must have pressed the blackened part in and scraped over a hundred times. Am I missing something? Is this supposed to take this long?

Yep

No... After practice all will go quicker, I use depth gauges also when inleting the tang.

By the way wrong place for this should be in the builders bench.

How do I get it moved to the correct area?

Had multiple windows open and must have posted in the wrong area.

I know you have already inletted the 'tube' and are having difficulty with the extension. I genrally use cast pipes, and I'll use one of the intermediate thimbles to help me with the entry thimble inletting. I inlett one of those then I'll cut the fastening tab off the entry thimble and concentrate on inletting the extension. When I'm all done I'll reattach a tab to the thimble with silver solder Are you edges beveled? ................George F.
