I finished inletting the estacheons around the barrel pins on my Bedford rifle (whew!). There are 4 barrel lugs, so there were 8 of these inlays. It doesn't look like it from the picture, but these are all German silver. I started getting the hang of it after I did about 1/2 of them. This is one of the better ones. I ended up gluing them with epoxy (although I don't think it was necessary) and also pinned them with steel brads. I skipped the epoxy on one of the smaller inlays behind the lock mortis and it seemed to work just fine.

One suggestion that I tried from one of the old posts on this board was to glue the inlay in place with super glue, then scribe around the perimeter. A light tap with a hammer is all that is necessary to break the inlay loose so it can be inlet.

You did a fine job! :)
Now, after having all of that fun you can understand why I've got inlays on all of my guns although I did get real tired of it after I hit 30 on my Franklin County rifle. :rotf:

Seriously, I'm glad the super glue worked for you. It sure does a nice job of keeping them in place while your "cutting in" around the edges. :)

Looks good.
I guess I missed the earlier tip about the Super Glue. Thanks for repeating it. I mau give it a try on my next one.

 Way to go, now you know the worth of doing it yourself. Gotta love it. Bob

I thought that inlay looked familar, I used couple on first rocklock built back in the early 70's.
