In one of the other Forums there was a discussion about buying a gun from one of the internet sites and when it arrived it had been misrepresented.

I bought one from auctionarms.com and when it arrived it was totally misprepresented. I returned it via UPS (insured) and UPS destroyed the stock, it took me 3 month to recover my money.

Being a slow learner, I ordered 1 stock on e-bay and 2 others on e-bay from a different person.
The first stock was fine, but the lock would not work. I was lucky to have the part and fixed the lock. The other stocks were to be T/C Renegades and I was shipped T/C Hawkens.

I noticed on e-bay the other day, there is a lot of T/C guns being parted out and the parts being sold separatly. I wonder how much the people who are dismantling the guns know about ML guns.

Thoughts and experiences?

Well on Ebay, you cannot sell a gun. You can sell parts of a gun though. So if you notice, many are just breaking down the gun and selling it that way. If you look, you have the whole gun there from one seller. Just buy all the parts from him and put it back together.

Yes, there are many though that don't know squat. All guns are Hawkens or what ever is stuck in their heads, if anything. Many also plead ignorance when it comes to a problem. After all, being ignorant covers alot of sins.

I learned long ago if you buy from a Auction site, it is there for a reason. Kinda like buying a ML at a pawn shop, ya get what ya paid for usually.....
Consider it a total piece of manure & bid on it as if it is a piece of manure, then you get a nice suprise if it is a nice piece of manure. But 95% of the time it IS on there because it is a piece of manure or someone would have bought it before it got there.

You would be amazed of all the perfect bores I have bought on auction sites. To this day I cannot understand how a guy can honestly say a bore is clean & shiney when the bore has not been cleaned in 20 years ! :hmm: :rotf:

It should be mandatory on ALL auction sites that the customer must be Completely Satisfied, or they get their money back IN FULL including ALL shipping costs. (No hassles, No Arguments, No B.S.)

That would eliminate about 50% of the shady people dealing the junk.. :winking:

Those guys partin out bp revolvers make a killing. There's been a couple I was interested in but I don't bid till the last minute and the prices just get ridiculous.

The last 2 minutes of an online auction will be where the bidding really begins!
Personally, I will not bid on a parted out muzzleloader, since typically 1 of 3 things will occur....
1. balance of parts (the barrel, stock, lock group ect) will be auctioned off at a nother point in time,
2. NO guaranty you will win both auctions to acquire all components,
3. you get ran to outrageous dollars for the remaining parts, as others know YOU will bid higher than you wanted, since it goes with what you already purchased.
...I have been emailed several times to be "second chance buyer" on part 2 of an auction after not winning part 1, I think anyone can do the math here!

Food for thought,
Brett

I emailed said auction yesterday, merely to ruffle feathers regarding a completemodern type muzzle loader outfitted with all the modern bling and such (not that I would ever own one) merely trying to make a statment, with 15 hours remaining, since this all violated their rules, BUT they chose to ignor my flag and support of their rules and allowed the auction to continue.

so, based on that, I guess you can sell complete"not discussed type here" on this particular auction site, appears thewy support it.

..but IF it were MY item on the block, and it violated oneof their rules, they would be on me like flies on a cow pie, and cancel my auction.

Hey all

I just won an auction on E-bay where someone was parting out a brown bess.

I bought the stock with all the components on it except for the lock, barrel and ramrod. (which I have) for little more than what I would pay for a fully inletted stock with no parts.

All in all I think I made a decent purchase, it wasn't cheap though

Being an eBayer for more than 8 yrs. (both as a seller and buyer),I've seen alot of items come and go. I've only gotten burnt a couple of times, but, one that sticks in my mind mostly was a pocket knife I had bought. The seller said it was in excellent condition, but, only showed one side. When it came in the mail the opposite side was completely missing!
We contacted the seller and told them they misrepresented the knife and we were told " We are not knife experts, and described it to the best of our ability.", at which time I promply replied that a blind man could have seen that :nono: .
Anyway, long story short, if you've got any doubts, either don't bid or ask the seller for more info. I really hate to buy stuff that I can't see (or touch), but you can and do get some great deals. Just my $.02 ...Bud

A few years back, I used to do a lot of selling on Ebay. When I mentioned a scratch, ding, crack or whatever, I always posted clear closeups of the mark so buyers could see exactly what I was talking about. Most legitimate merchants will do this. Avoid those who don't, or consider if the risk is worth it. I've been lucky in my purchases there and have never been burned, but I know my day is coming too, human nature being what it is.
