Was wondering how many on the Forum might be interested in a blanket shoot overseen by the adminstrator and moderators of the Forum? The prizes being somewhere in the $10.00 to $15.00 range. If enough show interest will look for ideas and suggestions from You all Thanks Gordy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif :)

I would be interested, gordy. Sounds like a good idea. The details are gona take some thinkin', but I got my thinkin' cap on right now... Count me in. :)

I'm in, but I've never shot a blanket before! :haha:
What the H### is a blanket shoot anyway?
Inquiring minds don'cha'know?
In any event I'm in. I'll try anything once. :shocking:

There are no loosers in blanket shoots. Everyone who enters puts up a prize worth a predetermined amount, say, something worth $10.00 dollars, which is usually an item related to muzzleloading. Powder horn, knife sheath, lead balls, you get the idea... You shoot your target(s), and the one who finishes first, gets first choice at a blanket prize that was put up, second finisher then picks, and then 3rd, and so on until all the prizes from the blanket are gone. Everyone wins. Sometimes you can even get your own prize back that you put on the blanket... These type of shoots are really popular amoung us buckskinners at spring shoots, and rendezvous. It would be interesting to do one over the web if we can figure out the logistics... :) I might add that your last shot is usually at an "X" for the purpose of tiebreakers.

gordy, I was over on: "www.mlagb.com". That's Great Britains's Muzzle Loading Association. Anyway, they have a site that is for "postal matches"... It's worth taking a look at! Also, should we consider a "Postal League"? Would anybody be interest in that? Here is one idea: We could organize four divisions; NE Div., SE Div., NW Div., SW Div., You would enter into the location division from where your from, (or request placement in a division that would need "filling out")? Everyone would shoot the same design of target each month (say a 6 month league, 10 to 20 shots on 2 to 4 targets) and the monthly score standings posted on this forum? At the end of the "season" (like baseball), we would have a division winner playoff, say NE Div. Winner -vs- SE Div. Winner, and NW Div. Winner -vs- SW Div. Winner. The two winners from this would shoot against each other for the "Forum Title"? We would just do it for the glory and claim of "Muzzleloading Forum Postal Champion". :) Any thoughts, anybody???

Hey O.J., did you see that NMLRA is having a monthly postal shoot as well as the larger annual shoot.

Yes, I did see that, Deadeye... I thought I might enter those as well. How about you? Are you going to jump in? Sounds like fun! :)

Does anyone have an idea for a target that could be used and printed from our computer printer's??? I was wondering if we might not want to try a dry run of say, five shots and post our score? Maybe set it up for June '04??? Any thoughts??? We'll just shoot for score, no prizes as yet...

Remington has several in Acrobat:

That second one from Remington is nice for old eyes and iron sights.

I would cast a vote for target 1, from the; www.Remington.com - web site... I printed this target and it looks like it would make a good target for muzzle loading rifles... We could score it out as; 10X, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6... What do you think??? Thanks, Stumpkiller!!! :)

Griz,,, the forth post on this thread explains how a blanket shoot works... Right now I thought we could just give it a trial run with no one putting up any prizes as yet... I thought if the ones who wanted to enter into this trial run could print a target from their computer, (maybe target 1, from Remington's page, the one Stumpkiller posted), those of us who wanted to could take five shots at 25 yards offhand, and post our results? We're kind'a feelin' our way through this right now... I have to get back to work, but I'll post somemore on this the next couple of days... I have meetings to attend tonight, but if I have some time I'll try to get something out yet tonight... Thanks,,, Ohio Joe

Well if you didn't there's gotta be somethin' wrong??? :haha: Ya done ruined the center of that there target... Now ya gotta print another! :haha: The hole in the lower right of the bulls'eye must of been a flyer... :curse: :haha: :haha: :haha:

I'll take a shot at it...
