Greetings, I would like to replace the brass parts
of my T/C. Any replacements out there? Could the brass be blackened?

Have you looked at Track of the Wolf for the parts you might want? Also, look at Dixie Gun Works.

Some people do blacken their brass. I don't know how durable it is. You might think about letting it tarnish a bit. :idunno:

I believe Dixie, and others have some replacement parts, to change a TC Hawken to iron parts. My guess is that they would have to be fitted, browned or blued, and you would still be stuck with the brass patch box. I assume the entire rifle would have to be refinished. Cold blueing will turn the brass somewhat black, giving a aged patina look, and Birchwood Casey, has a brass black. I didn't see much difference in the cold blue vs. brass black stuff.

i have an investarms hawken. remove all the brass
clean it with acetone, haet it in a pot of boiling water, dry and brush on brass black. use a lot as it will evaporte from the heat. let cool and spary withwd 40. now wipe off with cotton towel. effect will be a brown calico color

you can get the iron parts mentioned at the hawken shop, muzzleloading emporium & several other places. they are castings that will need polishin', fittin' & all holes hafta be drilled. and as stated you'll still have the brass patchbox.

I'll second the Dixie Gun Works. Check them on line. I'm pretty sure they used to sell a set of iron/steel hardware designed to fit the T/C Hawken.

The brass must be perfectly clean and warmed up a bit. Handling will thin it out, but the trigger guard gets the most wear. You can use a set trigger guard from a Renegade that stays black. This one has a black CVA guard that has no spur.

I think Dixie and TOW offered iron[black] furniture for the T/C but I don't see them listed anymore.
