Several of my shooting pards have TC Hawkens, but admire the all-iron furniture on my GPRs.

One asked me to check if anyone makes a set of drop-in iron replacements for the brass furniture on TCs.

I think there would be a busy market for a set like that, but I've never heard of one.

Anyone else?

I am aware of this set:

The Hawken Shop

I have not used the set and do not know anyone who has. It may not be a "drop-in" and I suspect some final fitting, finishing, drilling and tapping may be needed.

Dixie had a full replacement set that was called the hawken conversion unit for $49.95. The part number was ME1205. I do not see it on their current web catalog, but you could call and ask.

I just checked the DGW website, and ME1205 is listed for $49.95. I got these awhile back, and everything is going to need finishing. Very nice castings to start with, however, you're going to need to fit them to your stock. I opened up the nosecap to accomodate my 1" barrel with no problem.

Thanks everyone!

The way everyone has always criticized the brass on TC's for not being PC, while praising Lyman, I figured someone out there must have put together a set of replacements. It just looks like too good of a market opportunity!

I stayed with the brass on my T/Cs and built a more correct gun after I learned enough to figure out what I really wanted. Those T/Cs have introduced quite a few people to MLing since. I lend them to friends to get their feet wet while they learn what they really want.

Being the lazy sort, I think I'd just darken the brass if it bothered me. There's a thread running on that now. I have never gotten good results using cold blues, but from the pics in the thread, you can darken brass to where it's hard to tell it isn't iron.

I am even lazier. I just used it and made no attempt to polish the brass, so it darkened on its own.
