I am getting ready to start another rifle and would like to make as many parts for it as possible.
Has anyone here handforged their own trigger guard and buttplate.
I've made the other mountings but for Bp & TG , suggestions would be most helpful.

Buy a hershel house video, I believe he covers this.
Do you have a forge , anvil, and swage block? Those items will be essential.

I have the tools except for a swage block.Who carries the Hershal House video?

Bubba45: Check with CentaurForge.com, for that swage block. They have many different sizes, and prices. YOu might also check some of the auction sites to see if you can find a used one for sale.

I've done a trigger guard, I made it in two pieces and soldered on the rearward extension. I spent a lot of time in fitting the part and there is a lip that slabs over the front part- hiding the thin line of solder.
It was a lot of work and you can get a twist in the parts. Getting even lines of the curvature on both sides(from a center line) took time. Buying a sand cast part for $7.50 or a wax cast part for $20.00 is a pretty good deal IMHO.
