Is buying and selling bear fat legal?

I'm confused. I've read posts stating that selling bear fat is illegal. Yet you can buy bumblin' bear grease which is supposed to contain bear fat. Can anyone give me the scoop? I just canceled buying some bear grease from a fellow because I'm not real fond of striped clothes and big bubba.

I think that might depend on your State regulations unless there are federal laws which prohibit the sale of certain parts of a bear.

In Wisconsin it is illegal to sell any game animal or part of. I know they go into some special restrictions on gall bladders and such with bear. I have asked a bear guide in the area to save any of the fat for me when he skins and cleans client's bear. So far he must have forgot or never did it. Some of the clients don't even want the meat which I find strange, but it don't go to waste.

IC ~ In PA, it is unlawful to sell the edible parts of game or wildlife. Bear fat would fall into this category. However, if a taxidermist, butcher, or friend gave the fat to you, no problem.

Thanks...I was afraid of that. Glad I cancelled buying it. Not real fond of stripped clothes or big bubba...
If anyone wants to donate some to me, I'd gladly and legally take it. :haha:

Now if the person who is selling it to you lives from a state that it is ok with John Law then you are still allowed to purchase it.
