I have been thinking about building a LH .54 in Isacc Haines.
What is the actual weight of that rifle with the 38" barrel?
How does the gun balance offhand?

You are in luck as it is here today, we are getting ready to go ML Deer hunting & gathering our hunting gear. I put it on the digital scale & it is just under 8# with a 38" "C" Colerain swamped in .54 caliber.

I balances wonderfully, about midway betweem the end of the entry pipe & lock panel.

The Haines stock style is very nice to shoulder and shoot, I have an early Lancaster style that is very similar to the Haines lines with a 44" B .50 barrel and it comes to the eye very well, I went with a round face English lock just to be a bit different.

Darkhorse - For what it's worth my wife's .50c Isaac Haines style rifle with a 38" Getz swamped barrel weighs about 7lbs. (inaccurate bathroom scale) and balances 31" back from the muzzle (OL 54"). This is gun is very accurate. It shoots a variety of ball size (.490, .495) and 2 or 3F with no noticable change in accuracy. Unfortunately it is too muzzle light for me to shoot well offhand. Muzzle width is about .886", and at its narrowest point about .720". I dont't know if this equates to an A,B, or C weight - I'm totally ignorant about gun building.
