I really need a frizzen spring and screw for an Italian bess. marked Grice 1762.probably purchased at least 35 years ago. any ideas where they can be purchased?

Use Google...look up VTI Gun Parts....they do a lot with Italian gun parts......also look for Ackerman Arms, he does a lot with these for reenactors....and there is always Dixie Gun Works.

Your gun is a Pedersoli made musket.

That's one of the funniest things I've ever read here. He's a guy who's at reenactments for a particular reason that got some business cards printed and borrowed a screwdriver and spring-vice. I assure you he does NOT do alot for reenactors.

Save some money and go to Dixie Gunworks as a new frizzen spring and screw should cost you less than $40, plus shipping.

While you're at it stock up and buy an aftermarket Bess Main Spring from Track of The Wolf for $20.

VTI charges $61.00 for an Italian made frizzen spring and the screw, and $75.00 for an Italian made main spring. :shocked2:

This is a good thread with important information.
Never heard of VTI. They sure are proud of their stuff. :shocked2: But I saved their site for emergencies. And, then, there is always Dixie. Cuss 'em or love 'em, they often have what is needed.

There is a Pedersoli distributor in Richmond, MA called Flintlocks etc. you could try. I have no experience dealing with them. www.flintlocksetc.com

Thanks for adding that. I lost his address when my old computer died.

I have received parts from Richard Beauchamp that were not to be had anywhere else. Good man to do business with.
