Can one of you gents please tell me what year the following code represents XX9. It is on a brass framed .36 Colt Navy repro. Not sure on the maker.

Thanks for the replies guys. Actually, it's not my gun but one I'd just seen for sale on GunBroker. The owner is representing it as an original, not intentionally just from lack of knowledge I think. He has an opening bid of $8,000 :shocked2: on it. It has been antiqued, but one of the pictures clearly shows the Italian proof marks.
I'm going to contact him & let him know what he has so he can amend his description 7, hopefully, the opening bid amount, not that I think anyone would place a bid for $8K anyway!
 
I'm a bettin that the reason the owner is asking $8K is he knows it is one of the very few Italian guns that made it past the Union blockade to the Confederacy.

It was also General Lees personal favorite pistol. :rotf:
