Well, for many members hunting season is many weeks and even months away, but for the Colorado ML hunters, it's right around the corner.

The morning air is cool with that certain smell to it! Grasses are starting to turn yellow in the mountain valleys. Bowhunting begins in less than two weeks and the ml seasons roll in the second saturday of September.

Am I the only one who is excited?

:( All yur doin is makin me cry!

I ain't making small game which I so badly wanted to and looks like the start of archery is out but I'm hopein for gun deer season. I better dammit!

Everyone else have fun and go get em!

Yep!! I was talking about that the other day on another forum too. Woke up early this morning, that cold bite and the crisp air that makes you start choking when you breathe in deep :haha: I love it!!

I'm getting excited as well...the forecast shows a cooling trend here in central North Carolina the next 7 days...going to be cooling down to around 94*...and the good news is that the humidity will be down to around 94% too.
:(

Our deer season opened August 1 and runs to the end of the year, so no rush. Salmon and halibut are a bit distracting at the moment.

Fish can be a distraction for me to. Some of the best fishing in CO is September and October. Plus, it's when the fewest people fish! :)

I know what ya mean, it was a 49 this AM and they were out all over around 6:15am. Counted 22 on the way to the job.

Man that rain we had all night ( Light & steady) has made this morning cool and foggy. I remember dealing with this kind of weather One day many years ago during muzzleloading season. We all ended up wearing wet clothes for 3 days :haha: We learned to stay inside and not to bother with hunting while its raining/sleeting.

yup, bow season starts this weekend and at my house,10,000 ft above sea level the leaves are starting to turn.
The old lady is gettin wicked good with her long bow so she is getting that extra over the counter cow tag.
I'll **** my self if she sticks a cow I call in for her.
:haha:

let me guess 1994, full moon at night rain all day. :cursing:
I had to get up at 2 am to glass in the moon light so I cound find critters to stalk in to in the rain the next day.
Gotta love it!

yup, bow season starts this weekend

Hope she double lungs one! :)

I'll be out there with a deer tag and long bow. Will be scouting the elk for ml opener.

In my area the high valleys are still pretty green and the grass is coyote ear tall. So far the elk seem to be pretty high. Heat maybe?

I don't quite have that feeling in the air yet. In Nc , like roundball said, it's still pretty hot. However I spent the last week in Montana with the in-laws. They live in Great falls and I spent a bunch of time in Boulder. I will say this. I envy you guys that live out there a bunch. That area is absolutely gorgeous. When I was out there all i could think about was getting my smokepole and shooting bag and disappearing for a week or two. The elk there are just starting to come down out of the high country and I saw my first elk herd on the hoof. AWESOME!!! Then I came back here to 92 degrees and darn near 100% humidity. I wanna go back :cursing: Andy

No you most definatly aren't the only one that's excited.. :hmm: :hmm:  I'm so excited I might even puke any minute! This mornin is about the 3rd mornin all summer that I woke and was able to see accross the Bay...Cool ...NW wind....Get's my Blood pumping....I might even take off into the Woods later today and stay a day or two....Tis the Season... :haha: :)

Bear opens on the 1st, between my buddy and I we figure we have about 50 bears coming into bait now, but alot of them are big sows with cubs. We have a 300lb+ boar on camera, that'll be nice if one of us can take him, but I'll be happy with an average bear. The weekend warriors will start showing up here this weekend and they are usually the big problem, they will go check your baits and find the ones that are getting hit and put a pile 100 yards away, I'm keeping my fingers crossed we don't have those problems this year, it sucks when you've put in 90 or so hours into baiting just to have it ruined by some guy from the big city the day before season, but I'm hopeful. I was going to post pics. of the bears hitting my favorite pile but I managed to delete all 48 pics. somehow. I'll post a couple within a day or 2.

Here in UT the Archery has been going to 2 weeks and the ML starts the 23rd of Sept! woo hoo! I'm missing the archery due to work and other commitments so I will be focusing on ML this year. My hunting partners have been seeing some great bucks out there this year.

The air has been pretty crisp the last couple days. Heading out for muleys with the muzzy tomorrow!

Good luck to all this season! :hatsoff:
