I'm going thru my checklist, buying the food, loading the truck and heading for the mountains for a week of bear hunting!! It's here, it's finally here!!
Getting ready is almost as much fun as going.

September 1st is the New Hampshire opener of black bear. I'll be doing all the weekends up a tree for one soon enough.

man..this summer went by fast.

I heading to the woods tomorrow to set up a couple of bait stations: fish oil for long distance smell; corn, molasses, and honey for ol' Ursus Americanus to snack upon upon arrival; and burnt cooking oil poured liberally on the ground to help Br'er Bear create a scent trail to and from the station.

Our season here in northern Minnesota runs from September 1st through October 15, or there abouts.

Just the thoughts fried bear heart has me slabberin'.

I have a small spread, 100 acres, 65 miles north od Duluth, and just to the south of Virginia. You ought to stop by for coffee.

I'll have to see...

I'll be up at Dave/MN's place. If he does as good of a job this year as he did last, I'll be done huntin in 'bout 5 minutes. :front:

If any of you fella's happen to get lucky and score on a bear, I would be very interested in acquiring some of the fat from under the hide and the best fat around the kidney area. If you can ball up that fat and freeze it, I'd like to buy it from you so I can make my favorite patch lube.
There are no bears in Ohio ..........
If you can help me out, give me a hollar to: [email protected]
Just let me know what you want for the fat cost wise.

There are no bears in Ohio ..........
Ohio Rusty,
I hope you ment there is no hunting bear in
Ohio...Because according to the ODNR there is a population
of bear in Ohio and it is increasing...Most all in the Eastern counties along the Pa and W.Va borders. I've heard
that they are even a problem in some areas and that the ODNR
has even concidered special permits to harvest them in those
areas(permits by drawings i would assume with a healthy fee
you can bet)
BTW won't be long till i'll be down around
Logan looking for tree rats then deer.
