J. Goodoin barrel?

I recently purchased a tc renegade with a 34” j. Goodoin barrel and very nice red field target sights. It had been marked as .451 1 in 20 twist. What it is is .512 across grooves .492 at lands and as near as I can tell 1 in 60” give or take a bit(at any rate it’s a round ball gun). Can anyone enlighten me as to the quality of this barrel? It’s in very good shape and, rather than complain and return it I’m going to give it a go. My left hand Tennessee mountain rifle with 1/72”green mountain barrel is superb and I’m hoping this is as well. (I ought to be able to tell the difference between.451 and .512 but sometimes you have a dumb day.)

Jim Goodoien was a fine barrel maker: he made many full-on target rifle barrels (round ball and slug) used by champion competitors at Friendship. His barrels were expensive when new and still bring good money today.

Seems someone rebored/rifled it.

I have one on my John Schriet rifle, it is very accurate, unfortunately to heavy these days for this old man to shoot offhand but still works great off the bench.

My .54 Hawken has a Goodoin barrel and it has taken many whitetails. Its been a wonderfully accurate rifle.

I've never had a Goodoin barrel but have yet to hear anything negative about them. Seems they are really great shooters.

Jim was a rifling technology pro & made superb barrels.
I once challenged Jim's opinion on rate of twist & rifling & depth on a multi-grove round ball rifle I was having him re-rifle, unfortunately extensive range tests proved me wrong.
