With a bad fall in January restoration work had come to almost a stand still so restoration jobs began to build up ,has time progressed my arm which took the blunt of the fall began to improve so with a hour or so each day I started on a German percussion rifle
This is a Original Jaeger rifle in terrible condition not a fancy piece but a standard work horse which had spend several decades in some damp castle ceiler or such. It was very dirty and very heavy rust barrel and brass furniture was also dirty Work started by removing the barrel from the stock which was secured with pins , it had heavy rust and was 28 inches in length and a iron octangle barrel. the bore is roughly a 12 bore with 7 groves and a fast twist of 2.1/2 full turns Removing the rust with abrasive clothes plus files and steel wool and freshet the bore the barrel was matt blacked which had been its original colour , has a rule I would have left the barrel bright but the pitting was so bad
The old type of brass furniture I removed the old dirt and grime and coated with oil also the full stock I removed the dirt and grime and oiled the stock .The lock and the set trigger assemble i stripped and clean which freed the rust mechanism ,Once all were cleaned I assembled the gun full which improved its appearance some would have took the restoration further but but a gun which is 200 years plus should look its age
