Anyone know where I can buy brass cleaning jags with threaded steel inserts. I need both the 8 and 10/32 size? I just puled the brass threads on another jag-enough!

As far as I know, they all have steel threaded screws now. I had a brass one that broke off in my .45 Green River Leman during a shoot at Fort Bridger Rendezvous years ago, put me out of business. Cured me of 8x32 brass threaded jags! Track of the Wolf has them, Muzzleloader Builders Supply, Tennessee Valley Manufacturing, etc.

Almost...unless they've recently changed, oddly enough the 4" long 'superjags' that TC sells are all brass...had one of them to snap off right at the muzzle so I was able to just pull it back out.
But otherwise, everything else I buy is always the larger stronger 10/32" size with steel inserts.

Over the years I've salvaged 3-4 brass jags with the threads snapped off found at the range. Since I have a small lathe, I was able to drill and tap for 10-32 screws. A little LokTite on the threads holds them securely. MidwayUSA sells a set of 12 jags and they have 8-32 steel threads as I recall, but only go up to 45 caliber.

Since I bought a lathe/mill a few years ago, most of the work I've done on it has been custom jags for myself and club members. All of my jags and breech scrapers have steel threads. I put red loctite on them and screw them in tight. I wouldn't have another with brass threads.

I guess it's easier for them to just turn down the shank and cut threads when they mass produce them.

I just looked at the jag supplied with my GPR kit I bought/started on a month ago --- solid brass so they are still out there. Maybe just old inventory.

All of TCs threaded accessories still seem to have brass threads.
One good thing about these posts was the idea of drilling & tapping one where the brass thread had snapped off...I found my like new super jag with the threads snapped off, drilled and tapped it for 10/32", cut the shank off a 10/32" steel screw I had, installed it with red loc-tite and was able to put a new jag back in operation...and fortunately just drilling & tapping by hand in a vise it turned out almost perfectly straight and works fine...
