Jaguars have been photographed in Arizona.

Automatic cameras which use infrared sensors to trigger them, took pictures of 2 different male Jaguars in Southeastern Arizona down close to the US/Mexican border. The officials are not giving the exact location to protect the cats.

This isn't the first time photos of Jaguars were taken in the area, but it is the first time two different cats were photoed. One of the cats has been photoed 3 times in the last 3 years.
Each Jaguar has different spot patterns which makes identifying them relativly easy.
The two cats pictures were taken about 2 hours apart.

So far, no photos of female Jaguars have been taken in the area.

Southeastren Arizona is the Northern limits of Jaguars habitation, most of them living in South America.
They are nocturnal animals and can weigh up to 250 pounds.

From what I've read, more than one person in the South American jungles has heard the low, rumbling cough like sound these cats make, just outside their camp at night.
Now THAT would probably ruin a good nights sleep.

There have been a few jaguars in the Catalina Mountains just north of Tucson for years now. Not very many are sighted, but they are there.

:shocking: Nice kitty, kitty.

I have heard the call reproduced at the Syracuse Zoo. It would certainly make me wish for to be somewhere else. They're not as big as a tiger or a lion, but they sure sound that way.

We have a few of these too in Jacksonville, Florida. Too bad they are not endangered.
There are so many of them they are known to fill a statium, have a ROARING good time and pass a ball or two. They are primarily nocturnal and prowl the streets of a large city.
Unfortunatly, they can get unrully and create a mess every where they go.

Coyotes have taken over Georgia...I saw a Black Panther that have started moving back into my state....Jaguars in the west....When will we see the wild buffalo herds again? Nature seems to be re-establishing itself. :hmm:

Shoot, that's nothin. I live in Southern California, and I see Jaguars all day long.

Oh,wait... You mean ones with paws, not wheels.

They also wander into the "bootheel" of southwestern New Mexico. When I was a kid down there long, long ago a rancher saw one kill a calf, then whacked it with his 30-30. Haven't seen one live, but that one stretched the length of his pickup bed. Still remember touching the teeth and claws.

About a year ago I had two mountain lions cross the road about seventy yards in front of my truck.
What a sight to see.

Hey i saw that black panther here in iowa about 25 years ago.Now mountain lions are being spoted and a few shot. There is enough of em seen that a bounty is being considered in the southern part of the state.DNR says you can shootem here any way legally.
I often wonder if the panther i saw was a black phase young mountain lion :hmm:
