Aproxx time: 1610-1630
weather:Cloudy and cold

Bordering a swamp along a ridge she trotted aproxx 40 yards. My turkey feather was indicating the wind was blowing my scent away from her. Stepped out from brush offering me a slight quartering away shot. Jezabel spoke and sent .490 lead into ribs. Watched her run and disappear. Fell at around 60-70 yards. Not a big doe but will be tasty. Good lung damage. I bowed in reverance of the great creature and thanked the Great Creator for the gift. My family will enjoy it. Third deer with Jezabel. I am sleeping in tommorrow  Made my son field dress her  I am a firm believer in 50 caliber roundball.
LOVE blackpowder hunting. I feel more in tune with nature when hunting with my 50 with PRBs and real 3fg powder than i ever did with any centerfire gun.

OH i use a ground blind. hate treestands. fell out of one at 24 years old and am to frightened to get into another one

Leadball,
Congrats! :applause: on your success.

I can't wait for our primitive season here in OH. Minus, special area hunts we have to wait until long after our shotgun season though for our MZLoader season.

Taking deer with primitive weapons like archery and certain muzzleloaders is always a more rewarding experience then I ever got shooting one at 100+yds with an '06. :m2c:

Good for you, sounds like everything worked like it should.
I've gone the past 3 Saturdays (here in NC) but haven't seen any deer yet...I did notice a big increase in the rubs & scrapes today from last Saturday so they'll be cruising on the prod shortly

leadball... congratulations. Way to fill those T-zone tags. Did you get a complete pass through with your roundball? Always nice to hear when someone has some luck. I sat out this afternoon in the rain and saw nothing. My friend saw a beautiful couple of eight pointers and a six pointer. When we need bucks all we see are does. When we need does, all we see are bucks. Story of my life....

Congratulations again.

Way to go Leadball keep the faith and keep usin' that Real gun and BP!LOL :redthumb:

And if I were you Swank I'd use the ML in the shotgun season of Ohio! :m2c:

Leadball, congratulations. I am glad to see that you took your son trick or treating, and that you got the treat while he got the trick.

Same here leadball. And, like cayugad, I'm always wondering how that roundball behaved.
I love to play around with those big conicals, even do some hunting with 'em, but that roundball ain't never let me down either. I suppose I just like to hear the reinforcement. All those roundball shooters can't be wrong....and there seems to be a passel of 'em on this board.

Huntingfool- I will if I can quit using up all my tags with the bow. :winking:

Honestly, I wish Ohio would just put the primitive season before the shotgun season. Excluding a couple of special area hunts, the season is so late in the year. I have always made it a point to get my buck and doe with the bow so as to avoid the orange army invasion. This year I will have to hold off so I can try the ol' smokepole.
