Had the morning at the range yesterday with my 'new' Jim Alcock Matchlock Pistol. It's something I have wanted to get into for a long time and I finally had the chance to buy one from a fellow MLAGB member. It's a .40 cal smoothbore 'Spirit of the Original' Pistol with some interesting history.

Although I am familiar with the concept It took a while to get used to the way a matchlock performs but my last card using 24 grains of Swiss 2 powder tightened the group a lot and scored 42/50. I had intended to use Swiss 1 but picked up the wrong flask at the last minute

Looks a bit like this...

The owners of those pistols shot extremely good scores with them.

Your pistol looks very interesting. What's the story you mentioned?

Takeoff on a Tanegashima "pistol." Previously owned and/or operated by some interesting folk?
