I was in North Carolina this past weekend and I was fortunate to visit the Chambers at their wonderful place. I was given a tour of the workshop and got to see the firelocks and all the parts. The arms and accoutrements were simply gorgeous!

They were extremely generous and I hope to be getting one of their kits soon after moving to/getting work in North Carolina. The only negative I can add is that I was not yet able to buy one of the kits, and so had to settle for salivating with the catalog. He has a new Gentleman's Rifle that I plan on getting, and it felt as perfect as it looked!!!

Smart move there, getting out of Maryland. Sure you will be much happier in SC. Or most anywhere else, 'cept maybe NY or NJ and Cal.

Who's Blackpowder Barbie? I met one of his daughters, who gave me the tour. She makes the powder horns etc.

Blackpowder Barbie is his daughter, Barbie Chambers, (who is also a member here), she runs his office and does the ordering...

She makes them? Last I heard she was a collector of raw horns. Only person I ever met in my life who did so.

I want to order a chamber kit also. I've narrowed it down to the Christian Springs or the pistol. It'll be my first build.

Yes I met her. I was not aware that she used Black Powder Barbie as a name here. SHe was very nice and very knowledgeable, and took a great deal of time to show me around. They were very nice, and I got to meet one of their dogs, who had very nice hair.

Barbie collects powder horns? I collect horns, planks of wood, locks and parts to make things. Too bad I don't have the time right now to put things together.

The Chambers are wonderful folks. Guys, Marsh Jim is teaching lock assembly at Bowling Green next month so contact the NMLRA to see if you can get in. I'm taking a condensed version of his class at Conner Prairie in Oct. I'll still take the full 6 day class later (if I can get the time off).
