We would like to invite local shooters to our Traditional Muzzle Loader Shoot at Unaka Rod & Gun Club in Johnson City, TN on Friday, Sept 23rd to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
This is a non-sanctioned event held to encourage the safe and recreational shooting of rifles and smooth bores of the type used in our region from the Revolution through the 1840s. Period Clothing is Encouraged but not required.
Targets will be metallic silhouettes for:
Large bore rifle (.45 and larger).
Small bore rifle (.40 and smaller).
Military style smooth bore. (Two Hanging steel targets.)
Custom smooth bore. (Two Hanging steel targets.)
The shoot will include novelty targets and a ham shoot (cut the rope).
Rifles must shoot round soft lead ball, have metallic open sights, and have side hammers. Percussion guns are allowed. No sabots, in-line guns or scopes will be permitted.
General match entry fee is $15.00, $1.00 for each entry to the ham shoot.
Informal help for beginners with muzzle loaders will be held on Saturday, September 17th. Meet at the Unaka Rod & Gun Clubhouse at 10:00 AM.
