I am interested too. I actually had mine done last spring during turkey Season and have yet to try it! Gotta hurry, I have a tag in three weeks! I was good to go to 25 yds with sky cheif load for turkeys but squirell a bit smaller target and would use # 4 only so may need a bit tighter pattern. I had mine done by a grumpy ol man and I called him once too many times and he really was an ARSEHOLE but I guess I deserved it? Was told ASAP on receipt and I didnt get it during the season??

With jug choked .62 (20 bore) I use:

For squirrel and small game:

70 grains FFG goex,
One 1/8” nitro card
One 1/8” wool wad lubed
One oz #6 lead magnum shot
One over shot card

For Turkeys:

70 grains FFG Goex
One 1/8” nitro card
One 1/8” wool wad lubed
1 1/2 oz of # 6 lead magnum shot
One over shot card

You will need to experiment to find what works best for your jug choked barrel. Each barrel can perform differently.

Good luck shooting!

Would like to hear what are your best patterns with 20 ga. Jug choked and how far can you take squirrels with it.?
Thanks
A guy showed up at a muzzleloader trap shoot with a jug choke 12 bore. He broke almost as many birds as many who were shooting full choked 12 bores. He bought it and wasn't sure what degree of choke it had.

Not a 20 ga but a 12. Tried a corn meal load sequence just to see. 12 ga jug choke full by Caywood. 70 grains of Swiss FFG followed by a 12ga 1/8” lubed wool wad, 60 grains of corn meal, 1 1/8 oz #6 copper plated shot topped with a over shot card. Just 2 shots after a quick turkey hunt. 18 and 25 yards.

I have made many 10 and 11 turkey guns with full jug chokes. They will kill turks at 50 yards. I made a 20 bore with a full jug that would shoot 1 1/4oz #4 all inside an 18" circle at 25 yards. It all depends on who does the jug and if they know what they are doing.

Mike is right;

I had two done by Caywood, one will kill a turkey at 40yards, the other would struggle at 20 yards, one was done right, the other not so much. The Skychief load saved the underperforming barrel.

All mine are 12 ga done by Caywood so I cant help you with 20 ga info. Jug choking improved all mine making them tighter more nice round patterns and they shoot the big 690 an 700 ball very nice out to my usual 50-maybe 60 yds. I never shoot past that anyway in these thickets around home even with a rifle

Comfortably numb,,,,,,,,who done most of your jug chokes? I got one that suppose to be here this week. I do not know who done the choke. Pecatonica is sending the barrel with my fusil kit.

Two questions: How many thousands of choke should be put in, both in 12 and 20, and how does a jug choke affect round ball shooting. I'm building a 58 cal, 24 gauge, smoothbore and am curious.
Those that have them say it doesn't effect round ball shooting at all. I can't say at to the depth, but am interested as well. I'm guessing more is needed for tighter choke, but just a SWAG.

Lowell Tennyson, Bluegrass iowa. Lives 22 miles down the road from me. I'm not sure if he's still doing it.
