My co worker had a death in his family and he was given a few odds and ends firearms. In the lot was a Jukar 45 cal, for lack of better, Kentucky style pistol. Over all looks well cared for but is missing the front sight. There is one hole in the barrel where the front sight should be. Were these just a threaded bead type sight? I'm not a BP pistol shooter and don't know a thing about them. What about a conservative ball park figure on value? I don't have any pictures. Any info would be nice. Thanks.

Maybe not the Kentucky pistol, I believe they all had dovetailed sights. It might be one of the shorter barreled models. Colonial pistol? Anyway, yes some of those had a tapped in Brass bead sight. That is a $100-150 pistol, maybe 200 if the Kentucky model that had a 9 1/2-10" barrel.

The Jukar bilt colonial and Philadelphia Deringer pistols had a pressed in brass sight. You can probably find something at Dixie Gun Works or Track of the Wolf to use on it.
