I have inherited a Jukar, Spain looks like a Kentucky percussion pistol. I need a new trigger guard for it. Where can I get one? I assume it is a .44 cal. gun, not that it says on the gun or barell, but that there was an old .44 cal CVA shooters kit in the house that was found years later. Is there a way to tell for sure? I am new to this, just recently started shooting the Thompson .50 cal Hawkins that I inherited and finished myself and am hooked!!! I want to take a Javelina with the pistol next year and want to finish this up. Thanks all!

You might try Dixie Gun Works for the parts you need. They sell some Jukar guns. Track of the Wolf might have them also, or have another trigger guard that could be made to fit.

As for caliber, it's probably a .45, but the best way to find out for sure is to measure it. That's also the best way to determine which ball size and patch thickness to use. It's not hard. Get yourself one of those cone shaped lead fishing sinkers that will fit about halfway into the bore. Give it a few light raps to drive it into the bore a little bit, then grip it with pliers and carefully pull it back out without twisting or distorting it. Now you can measure it to find your exact dimensions.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out for ya!

Jukar made both .44 and .45 Kentuckys but settled on the .45 for import after awhile. The CVA I purchased in 1974 was a Jukar,.45.

I would have to agree if you want factory stock parts. If not measure the inlet sizes at the front and back of the guard. Also the height of the bow and length of the whole guard. Look at places like TOW and find one for a pistol of the same size or a touch bigger. If bigger you then inlet it an cover the original one with the new. I would also believe it to be 45 cal as I know my 45 cal stuff almost fit my 44 cal cap and ball pistol. fact to the eye the balls look the same so I keep them in very separate places and containers and never have them out together and we I have I only take one ball from each to compare and then throw them away being I have no way to measure them besides my eye and barrel muzzles.

Thanks for the responses all. Deer Creek is not anwering, probably not open on weekends. looks like the cva colonial pistol from the gun works will fit. I'll order and give it a shot. Will beasure the barrel. Tahkn for the good info!
