Nothing special, but I thought I would post some photos for those stuck at home this weekend :blah: Buddy my 14 year old rabbit hound and I went up on the Grand Mesa. Buddy doesn't get around well anymore, so we only went as far as he was willing.

First something to make you :haha: my new hat.

Everything in My Hand sewn pack,

"let's go already!!"

Getting close.

Dog tired dog

These next are just camp setup, hope you'll get out camping soon

Ok Buddy is done working for the day

Hat look great. But the wearer is.....uh...

My kid says there is a trick to taking a selfy (I believe that was my first one ever)

His trick? "be better looking then that when you take the shot."

He is a vary funny kid :nono: but he better not sleep for a week or two until I've forgotten what he said :cursing: :haha:

  Thanks for the pics and story.Enjoyed very much.I hunted out of Grand Mesa several yrs. ago. :hatsoff: Griz

Nice pictures! The dog looks like he said we will camp here!, now where are the dog treats!. I'm looking for a used wedge tent myself so I can go camping this fall during deer season.

great pictures Sean thank you, but the kicker is the 1st two camp shots where the lodge springs up behind and the dog never moves! musta been that tired? :haha:

Yea, poor old guy the sprit is willing but the joints are feeble. Too many wrecks while after rabbits in his younger days. I don't think I'll do any long hikes this year, just go where he can & be happy we are there together.

I think he and I both miss Paladin my other hound who we lost last year. Buddy is getting used to the idea that he is not hunting & I think/hope he is enjoying the jaunt in the woods.

When we left camp and got back to the truck he turned tail and headed back to camp  Always a good sign in dogs & kids when they would rather hike back to camp then get in the truck!

I enjoyed the pictures, but even more your care and love for your older companion. Brings tears to my eyes seeing how tired he was, but like you said, he wanted to go back to camp. He must've enjoyed being out with you. That's love buddy.

I felt a certain serenity in the pictures and story. I am a Flatlander with the heart and soul of a mountaineer.

Ten or fifteen years younger I would be living near the mountains. At this age all I can do is hope to get out there once a year if I am lucky. Maybe in the next life.

Thanks for sharing!
